Notes on photographic processes of the 19th century
Al segle XIX va tenir lloc una explosió sense precedents pel que fa al desenvolupament de la ciència i la tècnica. Una gran quantitat d’invents de la història de la humanitat que gaudim avui en dia va ser produïda en aquells temps memorables. La fotografia va ser un d’ells.
Etimològicament, la paraula fotografia ve dels vocables grecs foto, que vol dir llum i grafia que significa escriptura. Segons els historiadors, la posada en escena de la fotografia va venir de la mà de Joseph Nicèphore Niépce i Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre. Però hi ha moltíssimes persones que van contribuir a fer-la possible, i que aquesta tècnica arribés fins als nostres dies emprada en bona part de les coses i ambients del nostre entorn.
T’ofereixo un recorregut pel segle de la revolució científica a través d’imatges aconseguides amb diferents processos fotogràfics d’aquella època, sovint llargs i dificultosos. Res a veure amb la facilitat propiciada per la tècnica fotogràfica actual.
In the 19th century there was an unprecedented explosion in the development of science and technology. A lot of inventions in the history of mankind that we enjoy today were produced in those memorable times. Photography was one of them.
Etymologically, the word photography comes from the Greek words foto, which means light and spelling meaning writing. According to historians, the staging of the photograph came from the hand of Joseph Nicèphore Niépce and Louis Jacques Mandé Daguerre. But there are many people who helped make it possible, and that this technique has survived to the present day used in much of the things and environments around us.
I offer you a journey through the century of the scientific revolution through images obtained with different photographic processes of that time, often long and difficult. Nothing to do with the ease provided by current photographic technique.
